Prayer for People Experiencing Homelessness

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for being a God of grace and mercy. We praise you that you know and love each person and family who is experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty in our city. Thank You for numbering the hairs on their heads and for calling them by name. Your ear is not deaf to hear their calls.

We ask that You would be a wall of protection and deliverance for them. Watch over them during the day.  Give them peace and safety while they sleep. Protect them from violence, abuse, and theft.

Lord, help them to overcome bleak situations and show them how precious they are in Your sight. Strengthen them and lead them in Your love so that they can find exactly what they need today. We ask for jobs to be available for the seeking, that shelter opens up for those in need, and that healthcare be provided for health and recovery.

Lord, we pray for Your compassion to rule in our city. We ask that our leaders and citizens in Waco have a heart for the broken and least among us. Help us create a city that is known for embracing and caring for each other as we live in Your love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer for Those with Mental Illness

Heavenly Father,

You are the God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: we humbly ask that You behold, visit, and relieve those who suffer from depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses. Look upon them with the eyes of Your mercy; comfort them with a sense of your goodness.

Accept Our prayers, and grant to Your children who suffer with mental illnesses the help of Your power, that their sickness may be turned into health. We ask that You enable them to lead the rest of their life in reverence of You, and that their lives bear witness to Your glory.  Lead them in paths of righteousness that they may dwell with You in life everlasting.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
