Mission

To serve the kingdom of God by loving the disconnected and walking with them as we offer help, hope, and compassion.

Outreach

We serve people who are facing homelessness and difficult situations in the downtown Waco and surrounding area. Each month volunteers with JTTS:

  • Order and pick-up supplies for bagged lunches.
  • Make 300 meat-and-cheese sandwiches and assemble 150 bagged lunches.
  • Serve bagged lunches at several downtown locations while getting to know people and their stories.
  • Minister to and pray with people we meet on our stops.
  • Pass out prayer guides and share Bibles and other Christian reading material.
  • Lead craft activities at Salvation Army (on hold due to COVID restrictions).
  • Provide assistance with various needs that we see, including: rent when getting off the streets, diabetic shoes, vehicle repair, hygiene, and our Winter Outerwear Project (September 1 through November 30).

Join Us

We welcome you into our work at JTTS. Join us as we work to advance God’s kingdom by:

Cross necklaces shared with friends on the streets.

Advocating

You can also advocate with your city, state and federal officials to champion support for the forgotten. Examples of advocacy opportunities include programs and policies that:

  • Provide and encourage affordable housing.
  • Help low-income and the recently incarcerated obtain identification cards.
  • Job programs for people with criminal records.
  • Connecting police and other first responders with mental health providers and services when they are responding to situations where mental health issues may be a contributing factor.
  • Changes to discharge policies at hospitals to help connect people with temporary housing and emergency assistance.
